Flower Wreath Tutorial by Nicole

Hi, everyone!  It's Nicole here today and I have a really cute and easy wreath project to share with you today!  I used the Chloe's Garden paper collection to make my wreath, but this would look fabulous with many of Momenta's collections!

First of all, gather your materials:
Momenta papers of your choice, a floral foam wreath, pearl-headed pins (roughly 200), hot glue gun, flower punch, scissors, two spools of wide ribbon, mouse pad (not shown).

Next, start punching flowers!  The number of flowers you need will depend on the size of your wreath, but I needed about 400 by the time I was done.  I decided to bring in some help-- he's easily bribed with Power Rangers on Netflix and some icecream sandwiches!  (and he's cute, too!)

While he was punching, I wrapped the wreath with the ribbon.  I used the hot glue gun to secure the end and then just started wrapping.  It doesn't need to be perfect, so just go for it!

Here's what it looked like after it was wrapped with ribbon.

Now, add a loop for a hanger.  This piece of ribbon is about 10" long.  I glued one end down with hot glue, made the loop and added a 1/2 turn and then secured the other end with hot glue.

Now, on to the flowers!  Layer two flowers on top of eachother and lay them on the mouse pad (you don't have to use a mouse pad, but it sure does make it easier to push the pin through without stabbing yourself in the finger!).  Push the pin through the center of the flower.

Now, gently bend the flower petals up toward the center to give the flower some dimension.

Now, push the pin into the wreath.  And, start on your next flower.

Keep adding flowers to the wreath giving a random appearance to the pattern of the flowers.  Put the flowers close enough together to cover the ribbon.

Just keep pinning flowers until you have gone all the way around your wreath and you are ahppy with how it looks.  And, that's all you need!  Isn't it pretty?

Here's a closeup of the flowers as they go around the wreath.  I just love the way the pearl-headed pins look as flower centers.
This project is easy, but a little time consuming.  But, you can easily walk away and come back to it.  It took roughly four episodes of  "Power Rangers" and two ice cream sandwich breaks to punch all of the flowers out.  And I pinned here and there throughout the day until it was done.  The kids are really excited with how it looks and want to hang it in the entryway of the house!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed the project and are inspired to try one for yourself!

Card Kit Creations by Mara

Hi Everyone!!! This is Mara and I'm here to showcase the card kits that Momenta provides. These are great kits that include envelopes, pre-scored cards, borders, sentiments and jewels. Everything you need to create 12 cards is in this kit! Today I am featuring the Free To Be Me Card Kit.

I really love this cardboard hinged box that houses all the goodies. It's sturdy and a great place to store everything once you are finished. This would be such a CUTE gift for those younger crafters in your life. I know my 8-year old daughter was trying to get her hands on it.

There are 4 different card designs and I like that each of the cards is a little bit different. From plain rectangular shaped cards to scalloped and fancy edged cards. Let's take a look at all of them.

I love that everything is pre-cut and ready to use. I added some circles and scalloped circles using my punches and cardstock from the Free To Be Me 12x12 Super Pad under each of the sentiments. But other than that cardstock, everything is from the card kit. Let's take a look at each one.

I love this fancy shape!!

The rectangle cards you can orient vertically or horizontally, depending on the look you want.

And a scalloped edged card!

I consider myself a more advanced card maker and I still had a great time putting these cards together. Momenta's card kits are perfect for the beginner or the advanced crafter. I think it would make a great birthday gift for a younger crafter in your life. Maybe your son or daughter wants to craft with you and this would be a great starting point!

I hope you enjoyed my cards...thanks for stopping by the Momenta blog today!

Wobbly Owl Gift Bag by Erin Morehouse

Hi Momenta fans, It's Erin with you today with another fun way to personalize gift wrapping. Using my electronic cutter and the Kaleidoscope 12 x 12 Pyramid Paper Pad , I was able to transform a boring paper gift bag into a fun personalized one for an owl themed birthday party. I trimmed a piece of patterned paper to fit the bottom half of the bag, and added a Puffy Border Sticker to the bottom edge, and some lace to the top. After cutting and assembling the layers for the owl, I added some ink and doodling, as well as some googley eyes, then attached him to the bag with an Action Wobble Spring. My favorite puffy alphabet stickers add the finishing touch, and keep me from being able to claim this one for myself.

It's H2O Baby! by Christa

Good Morning  friends! I wanted to share with a you a bright summer layout I made of my daughter in the pool.  The summery theme of this layout meant I wanted a colour palette that screamed summer!

I finally chose the Cuddle and Coo  Pyramid pack (PA-2385) and chose a yellow polka dot background. It wasn't a tough decision since both sides of this paper pack are so versatile. It's texture is so very cool too..linen!  The bright yellow contrasted nicely with the pool water blue. I think it's really important when using a strong pattern as a background to give the viewer's eye "a break", so I added some finger painted smears of white acrylic plus some splatters.  (Thanks to my pal, Audrey Yeager for the idea to use my fingers!) I chose the position of the smears and the splatter after I laid out the other pieces of my design without adhereing them. I then removed the elements and painted. I used my heat tool to dry the paint and replaced the pieces back on the design!

After choosing a piece of red from the 5x7 Cardstock Pad (PA-2337), I layered several scraps from the Cuddle and Coo pack with a sticker border (ST-4074) for dimension. Also, I used few scalloped flower shapes to create white spots to highlight my title and the little photo in the lower right. The white shapes are more of that visual 'break' I spoke of earlier.

I added a few buttons in contrasting colours and stitched them directly to the layout with matching twine in the white and red. I chose the red becuase my focal photo is mounted on the red and it provides cohesion to the design. The red machine stitching and the white trim are a few other little additions.
This design came together easily with the help of these delightful Momenta products. I hope you are inspired to create some summer memories of your own! Until next time, keep doing what you love to do!
